Dr. Ernest Seidman Legacy Fund
Dr. Ernest Seidman's dedication to improving the lives of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) through advancing research, technology, and patient care was unparalleled. His death, at just 67, the peak of his career, robbed the IBD community of one of their guiding lights. Though we can never replace his expertise and innovation, the Seidman family, Marcy, Jonathan, Jessica and Loren, and Gillan and Ian, are committed to continuing his legacy by providing funding to those that work to further his cause.
Our goal is to create a legacy fund that will ensure ongoing support for Dr. Seidman’s most cherished endeavours, patient-care and research priorities in IBD. Dr. Seidman held the Chair of the McGill IBD Research Group. This group provides services to the IBD clinics at the MUHC IBD Centre of Excellence, located at the Montreal General; and the IBD Clinics at the Montreal Children’s, and the Jewish General Hospital. These were of paramount importance to Dr. Seidman and the IBD community.
The Dr. Ernest Seidman Legacy Fund will also keep his name and memory alive for our family and the IBD community to which he dedicated his life. In order to achieve this, we need to raise $200,000 to ensure the fund is self-sustaining. Creating an endowment will allow us to invest long-term in the area that was most important to Dr. Seidman and further IBD care. We are thrilled and grateful to announce that we have already raised $95,000.
We are asking for your support in achieving this goal. He shared his gifts with this community, which in turn brought fulfillment, purpose, and great achievement to his short life. We hope you will join us in our efforts to continue his legacy, and give back to the community that enriched his life so greatly. All gifts will be celebrated by our family.
