PT/OT Fundraising Marathon
We See Our Patients at Their Most Vulnerable
We are the physiotherapists and occupational therapists of the McGill University Health Centre, and this year we're running to support each other and the work we do.
Our patients come to us in acute crisis — recovering from major surgery, trauma, facing new diagnoses, or coping with sudden illness that has upended everything they once took for granted. Everyday, someone who was independent, working, caring for family, and living their life can find themselves unable to walk to the bathroom alone, unable to dress themselves, unsure if they'll ever feel like themselves again.
We are there for that. Every day, we work with patients navigating a tangle of medical complexity, physical decline, functional loss, and losing their autonomy. We assess. We rehabilitate. We problem-solve alongside our patients and their families, adapting our approach to each person's unique combination of medical fragility, physical limitations, and emotional distress. We celebrate the smallest wins — a few steps taken independently, a task performed without assistance — because we know how much those moments mean to someone rebuilding their sense of self.
This work asks a lot of us, and we give it willingly, because our patients deserve nothing less.
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, a group of us — PTs and OTs together — will be running the Montreal Beneva Marathon and a half marathon to support our department and one another. This marathon is our way of standing together, both on the road and in the work we do every day.
Thank you for running alongside us — and for helping us help our patients find their way back to themselves.
